One thing to remember when adjusting for better echos (fish, brush, bait, jigs) is the amount of filters that the unit is set to....
Noise filter settings, surface clutter settings, Swithfire Clear mode....etc..
All of these types of settings are filter settings that degrade from the raw sonar echos...
The higher that filter settings are... The less likely smaller and/or weaker returns will be seen...
While filter settings are necessary for cleaning up the unit images and controlling interference issues... It's a give and take situation...
The best images (2d, SI, DI) will be obtained by a compromise of filter settings and sensitivity settings...
Adjust filter settings only high enough to remove (or lessen) the bad image issues...while at the same time...adjust sensitivity settings high enough to get the smaller and weaker returns...
