To me it looks like the right side of your TD might be picking up turbulence . See if you can drop it down a couple more inches and see off the problem gets worse/better or shows up on both sides. Looks like you have another transducer up higher and to the right. Put your side imaging TD there and I bet your problem clears up although you may have to slightly trim your motor up at times for the best picture.

Thank you, Gene. This is great information. I have my extra TD wire rolled neatly all in the same direction. I have tried everything but never thought of that. I will try it. Thank you, Merry Christmas! Keith

My 798 does the same thing also. I too will try this trick. Let me see if i understand you correctly. The excess transducer cable should be folder both ways (once towards the transom and then the next wrap back towards the bow) until you use all of the slack cable, to eliminate external magnetic interference into the cable?

Coil the excess cable into an 8" coil ...

Then, twist the entire coil into a "figure 8" and fold 1/2 of the figure 8 (4" coil) onto the other 1/2 of the figure 8 ...creating a duo-directional 4" coil ...

Lord have mercy, just when you think you have heard it all something like this pops up. I just installed SI on my boat but have not had a chance to run it yet. It is a Lowrance HDS 7 touch screen. Wish my transducer was as compact as yours. Mine is about a foot long. I will check my cable tomorrow.
