    Default Hummingbird 570 DI Recomendations

I searched guys, can't find info on specifically the 570 DI. I 'm considering buying one in the next 2weeks or so, although the BPS and Cabelas reviews have me concerned. Anyone actually have this unit and use it? Lots of bad reviews on less than 10' depth reading, etc. I'd rather not spend the (double) $$$ for the color, or GPS/color model..... but I will if the 570 is going to be problems....

Thanks for our insight, I really appreciate it.

I just bought this unit myself, but have not had a chance to test it out yet. One thing I noticed about the reviews that were bad was that they were around July or earlier of last year. From what I read it seemed to be software issues. Maybe they already fixed that because the reviews that I have read that were more recent seem to be good ones.

I use one on my trolling motor and have had no problems with it. It is a great little ff for the money.

There were some changes to the software of the DI units last year to improve the shallow water depth reading problems that some reported. My guess is that the negative reviews were prior to this.

    Thanks everyone.

I think I'll pull the trigger on one. I will try it out before I drive 285 miles to Ky Lake, though!

Tested mine out yesturday for the first time. I was in depths from 3' to 25' and didnt have any problems. My only sugestion is to make sure u read the manual that is included on the cd. Maybe even print off some of the pages to have in the boat the day you use it.

Hey man, I really appreciate that! I'm gonna pick one up at BPS here in the next week or so. I remember reading about the manual being a CD (not handy on water), great idea printing some key pages.

I'm also going to hope it was software issues back mid last year causing the bad reviews.

Thanks again to all for the insight.

Call Humminbird customer service and ask for a printed owners manual. They will have one at your door in just a couple of days at no cost to you. That way you have a full copy to take in the boat with you.

Ended up buying H bird 345c. Smaller screen but color. BPS mentioned the visibility of the gray scale model in sunlight, so we decided to try the color. Going to the lake tomorrow for initial testing. We decided to not mount the transducer on the tm, so we fabricated a bracket for it to fold in and out of the boat. Will post pics later.
