    Default Transducer Mounting Problem?


    I drilled the holes in my transom today to mount my transducer and found that that particular part has no wood behind it. Just maybe a half inch of fiberglass. Will the screws hold up in the glass or have I got problems? this is about the only place I can mount it and can't get to the back side for it being a tight spot and foam filled around the edges of the boat underneath and down low. This is a bass boat. I hope the screws will hold OK. The screws had a good bite going in and snugged up good. Opinions please.CF

    Put some epoxy in the holes before you put the screws in. You should be okay then.

    First mount a 12-15" wafer board using the epoxy or other glued-in screws, then mount the transducer to the board. That way, if you break the ducer, want to change locations, etc., it'll be alot easier removing it than dealing with epoxied screws.

    Wet waferboard? Have you ever seen wet waferboard? I think I've heard all manner of mounting transducers, but I must add that one to the list.
