My 788 did the same thing X2. Sent it back to Humminbird both times under warranty. Both times were when I tried to load upgrades.

Yea wire is good, unless there is a bad spot in it somewhere that I can not see. But watched the volt meter while the 998 and 1198 were both on and it didnt drop when they were on. Of course they would the longer I left them on.
You alwayswant to make sure you have plenty of power when doing a update cause 1. That's when unit requires & uses the most power Was once told 997 took over 1 1/2 plus amps. 2. If unit shuts down during update because of low power generally unit must be sent back to HB as they are the only ones that can start it back up.
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....
