Default HB 570DI and slpider rigging

A lot of my crappie fishing is spider rigging at very slow speeds. I was looking for a better depthfinder. Am I right in thinking that the Down Imaging would not show optimum images at these slow speeds. I was thinking that the split screen on the 570DI unit would allow the best of both worlds. The regular sonar to show fish and some structure at slow speeds, and the DI to show better views of structure at higher speeds. Am I right on this and are there any other units that have either split screen views or at least offer both options. Any info or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks dad for teaching me to love crappie fishing!!

Just today with my elite5 dsi, I was longlining at .7-.9 mpg on the gps and not only did the di show the structure but the fish that were stacked on top like cordwood. I could not get over the clarity, I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that that was crappie over the structure even at those slow speeds.

Down imaging seems to be a definite plus, as long as you're moving. If your unit has split screen capabilities, but no 2d ... then you're looking at two DI images, with one of them zoomed in a little closer. If it does have 2d capability ... then you're looking at an "old school" image (2d) on one screen, and the more defined image (picture quality) of DI on the other.

It's really a personal choice as to which one of these two is more functional for the fishing methods used.

    mitrisin,
Any of the Humminbird DI units will be able to do this as they all have both the DI and 2D sonar and can be viewed at the same time.

I would think that the 2D sonar will give you the best chance to see your lure(s) based on the larger sonar beam that it uses versus the thinner sonar beam used by the DI sonar. The Di sonar will be able to display clearer images of structure due to the narrower beam but there must be some boat movement for this to happen.
