Default bird 898, marking structure on side imaging??

how to i mark something on side imaging say 100' from the boat, i got my unit installed last week and only been to the lake on time with it so i am just learning it but, i think i got most everything down pat but this, when i hit mark it marks where the boat is i want the little circular icon to come up so i can move it to the spot i wanna mark on the screen.

Use the 4way cursor and move to the spot on the Side Imaging screen and hit mark.

In addition to what SuperX said.....

I have found my waypoints to be more accurate if I mark the point where the structure "appears" to attach to the lake bottom...

It is even possible to mark waypoints on a recording that you have saved in the unit...

All GPS data is recorded at the same time time that a recording is made..

Make a recording at the lake....
    View it later at home...
Mark waypoints on the recording in the comfort of your living room...

Or if you want you can view your recordings 20 years later and then you can make waypionts on places that you want to go to.doesnt even have to be used with that unit.you can mark the waypionts at home then load them in the gps unit of your choice.email them to a friend to share in his unit

Theres something else that i would like to add.you mentioned100ft. Scan.this is something that i do alot, scanning out to 100ft.some one posted here that you cant see verry much out that far.WRONG most of thepictures of structure that l post here on this site can be seen then marked at that randge easilly.now this part here you dont have to agree.just my oppion.once you mark it go back and fish.dont waste time with di.unless you want to take pretty picture.that pretty picture not going to put more fish in the boat

so while i'm idiling around and i see something i wanna mark on the sideimaging screen i simply use my arrow keys and i cursor should appear and i move it over and hit mark, ok, does it have to be in just the view of sideimaging or can it be in one of the split screens and still work the same way, i prefer to have the di/2d on two small screens and the sideimaing in the third larger screen, though that big screen down image is pretty neat.

That’s how it works gobbler and it will also work the same way on the 2D/Di split screen as well. You just have to make sure which side of the screen is active.
