I just got a Piranhamax 170 fish finder. I put it on my rear tm it's a skimmer type I have the flat part facing back and it's parallel with the motor housing on bottom is this correct way to do it. Please help if anyone can thank a lot and thank for letting me join this forum. My boat is a 12 foot flat bottom tracker Jon boat

post up a pic if you can. It sounds correct, but a pic alway helps. The owners manual should have a pic of how it should be mounted, or look in other threads here in the electronics forum on mounting xducers, there are some pics posted in various threads for you to compare.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

You might try hooking the DF to the Trollin motor and see if it causes interference...

If your trollin motor doesn't have "pulse width modulation" you may be fine without the separate battery...

But that's up to you....Nothing wrong with more than one battery...

I'm one to talk about saving batteries.... I have 4 in my boat.... Oh well... Just and idea...

Also... You may think about moving the xducer back toward the prop "just a little bit"...

Looks like you have 3 or 4 inches of room between the back of the xducer and the prop to play with...

If the sonar beam crystal element is in the very front tip of the xducer... The lowest point on the trollin motor skeg may be sticking down far enough to actually be in the front edge of the cone shaped sonar beam...
