Thread: 597hd/di update

I was wondering if this has happened to any one else out there. I download the new update (Version 6.090) after doing a 20 minute format of an 8 gb scanisk sdhc card. Then installed as per instructions on humminbird site. (restore to factory defaults. shut down. installed card with update. turn on . follow instructions. When i started using the unit in demo mode the scroll speed was really fast. put the scroll speed on 1 and screen looked like a lie detector test. if i increased the speed to 9 the bottom would read right but fast. Then i restored to factory defaults again this seemed to help the speed. When i was adjusting the window size from narrow to wide (2d sonar & map) this worked ok. when i wanted to adjust the window size on (DI & map) there was no option offered on the screen. Is this something that was left out of the new upgrade? Randy

Should be some changes to the DI sonar as well. I believe that they changed the default DI sonar color as well. All other changes were for the point of sale simulator and for the in-factory testing that we do.

According to the instructions here... How do I download Software to my HB Unit using MMC/SD card? you should;

1. Power the unit on
2. Restore to factory defaults
3. Insert SD card (while the unit is powered on)
4. Follow the prompts
5. Wait for download to complete
6. Remove SD Card
7. Restore factory defaults

There have been unexplained issues with inserting the SD card and then powering on the unit...

I would suggest revert back to your original version of software...
Re-download the new update onto the SD card from the HB website...(in case the first time got corrupted somehow)
Follow the update procedure again with the new software version...

thats the way that ive been doing it.no problems so far

Randy.. I'm not really sure as I have not updated my unit yet....

It seems your other issue is OK now (yea!)

Beings as sometimes new questons get lost down in the body of a long thread like this one...

Maybe you could post your new question into it's own new thread so it can be sure and be seen by several who may be able to help...

Ill try to look tonight and post back either here or new thread if there is one

theres a little pop up window that lets you ajust the sharpness that came with this new update.we already had this with the bigger units. i thought that i would post some pictures showing how this makes it easier to see fish on the di view .i circled what appears to be bait fish.you can see them on the tradional 2d on the top and the di on the bottom of each picture. while im posting i thought that i would mention something that most of you already no but some dont.if you would like to personalize your unit you can add your name,phone number,address or you could just put something kool on the boot up screen like keep hands off mine or humminbird rocks. .the way to do this is while the sd card is open in your computer drive,just click on profile folder thats on the card,scroll down to the last four lines.they are p1,p2,p3,and p4.to the right of each just type in what you want to show on your unit at boot up save.be sure to close the drive then remove the card.put the card back in your humminbird unit and turn it on,when the unit boots up you will see on the screen what you put on the card.kind kool i think.give it a try

Finally got to use mine this weekend after updating it and now I can't seem to get it to show much of anything...usually just looks like a jumbled up mess on the screen...it'll show the bottom and top and everything else in between is just "fuzz".

If I recall, the instructions on HB's website said to install card and then power up the unit, but I don't remember for sure...so maybe that explains the problems I'm having. It took me 3 times before it finally booted correctly to load the update.
I guess I'm not sure...where/how do I find the older version to reload so I can start over again??
