    Theres a new softwere update avalible for humminbird 597hd/di on the humminbird web site

    well i downloaded an installed the new update this afternoon all went well. there is no info on the humminbird website or info that came with the update.best that i can tell after briefly going though the menu i now have those new features that humminbird was suppose to have had out in January....casting rings,projection line,waypiont prox. and more...... now im hoping my 998 will get its updates soon. thanks humminbird

    Should be some changes to the DI sonar as well. I believe that they changed the default DI sonar color as well. All other changes were for the point of sale simulator and for the in-factory testing that we do.

    I am getting ready to buy a 597. Would it be best to update it before I put it on the boat?

    yes greg my default color changed beck back from the amber to blue

    i think if i were you and knowing what i no about this unit and what these updates are i would first install the unit and at least run the unit in simulator mold . i would then install the newest update.then run the unit again. also i will say, me knowing this unit i will say that you've just bought yourself a great unit .oops.......... i just looked again..........you havent bought it yet.......(whats you waiting on. its just money ) P.S. if you have any questions about how to update feel free to ask

    Thanks Kosmo. Im just trying to decide if I want to order it or make the 2 and 1/2 hour drive to BPS. If my father in law wants to go I will make the trip. If not I will just order. Just waiting on him to decide. If I need help I will sure get ahold of you.
