    Default Humminbird 727

Was wondering if anyone had one is currently using one. I found a used on for sale on Walleye Central. Asking price is 150.00 with the GPS receiver. Honest opinions appreciated. Would rather have internal GPS, external just looks like another pain in the a**.

    Ozark88,
The 727 was last built by Humminbird back in the 2008 model year, so that unit is going on four years old now. It was replaced by the 728 in 2009 so operationally it would be the same as these except that it may not have some of the newer features added to the 728. The guys that run 728’s should be able to give you some useful feedback though.

    Ozark88,
I have this setup on the console of my 2002 tracker boat. It works fine. The external antenna is no problem what so ever. I would love to have one of the higher end color models with internal gps and all the map features but I can not justify the extra dollars. I only get to fish about 20 times a year and spending $600-$800 makes no sense to me at this stage in my life. For a black and white unit the 727 is a great unit for the money. I have had mine for about 5 years with no problems and no complaints.

Thanks for the input gopreach. I'm really having a hard time deciding what to do there is so much to choose from. I'm kind of like you though in that it is hard to justify spending that kind of money for something with all the bells and whistles when a basic finder will serve just as well. Thanks again.
