    Default transducer mounting plate

Hey all, I just mounted my SI transducer and I think it went well, but I hated putting holes in aluminum boat. I have found a little water in back of boat, usually bone dry. I dont know if its from the bait cooler I had splashing around in there last week, or something new as today was first day on water since installation.
I was wondering about redoing the whole thing taking all screws out, putting sealant on it and then mounting a plate over that. Buit I dont know what size to get or thickness?? Just never seen one put on and scared that the screws to hold transducer may not have enough "bite" to hold it on.

Just getting yalls opinions, and thanks

I don't know how thick these are. Cabela's: Cabela's Transducer Mounting Plates
Always use a sealant on the screws when mounting something below the water line.

The mounting plates use different holes, so you'll have two more holes in the hull. I'd back the screws out, coat them with 5200 and tighten them down again.

I also didn't like the idea of punching holes in the transom (below the water line) so this is what I did. I have since lengthened the rod and put a knob on the top and 1/4 turn fasteners to lock the rod so I can easily raise lower the assy if needed. Just my 2 cents.

Brighten up that hull with some sandpaper, clean with acetone and then use 3M 5200 adhesive to apply your transducer bracket with 4 stainless screws into the transom. From that point on just use shorter srews to install into the Star-board material and you won't have to worry about water intrusion if you have to tweak your ducer position. The liberal amount of 5200 on the back of the plate will seal the 4 screw holes.
