Thanks for the advice everyone. I know very little adout eletronics of any kind and never ment to open a can of worms by using the term "fish finder".

It's all good. We know what you mean. And it's not a can of worms if only one person makes an issue of it.

Some might say there is no such thing as a speckled pearch but we all call them that in my neck of the woods.

As there are different methods of fishing...so are there different sonar features that can be utilized to aid in those fishing methods...(2d...SI...DI...GPS...color...multiple beam selections....addon possibilities..)

Different units offer different features...

Matching the features available in today's sonar units to your style of fishing should be the first consideration in a sonar unit decision...

Then find a sonar unit with the features you need ...in your price range...
