To import them back in, just insert the card with the waypoints.
When you export the waypoints, you will still have the ones on the unit itself.

Hey guys i need some help with a little problem i am having. i am wanting to install my software updates for my humminbird 798ci hd. I was getting ready to download the software from humminbirds website when it told me i needed to save all my waypoints on to a card or my computer because when i up i upload the software on to the fishfinder i will loose all my waypoints. Now i know how to export all my way points on to a card but i am wondering once i export them to a scandisk card and take the card out of the unit will my way points still be on the unit? also i am wondering once i export them out how do i get them back onto the unit once the software up date is loaded.......i need help please.
To import them back in, just insert the card with the waypoints.
When you export the waypoints, you will still have the ones on the unit itself.
Thank you for the advice. My question is this, once I put in the new software won't what is already on the unit be removed? And if so how can I load them my waypoints back onto the unit or will I have to keep the card in at all times?
Waypoints and software version are different...
The software is more like an update to the "operating system software"... Whereas the waypoints are stored in memory...
Export the waypoint Nav data to a blank formatted SD card...(you are exporting a "copy" of the waypoint data...the original waypoint data will still be on the unit)
Delete the Nav Data from the unit....
Follow these instructions for updating the software in your unit...(use a separate blank formatted SD card)
How do I download Software to my HB Unit using MMC/SD card?
After completing the update process from above...
Reinsert the SD card that contains your waypoints...
The Unit will automatically reinstall the waypoints from the SD card...
The unit should recognise that the Nav data has been imported (into the unit memory)...
Remove the SD card that contains the "copy" of your waypoint data....(save this SD card with the "copy" of your waypoints for a backup in case something happens in the unit to lose or mess up the waypoints in the unit memory)..
