    Default Gen 2 compatability

I have an HDS 5 with Structure Scan on the bow of my boat. I am thinking of upgrading to a GEN2 HDS 8. I do not want to have to pull new wires if possible. My question is can I use the power cord which is already there from the HDS 5 with the new GEN2? Also can I use the US2 transducer on my Terrova with the GEN2? Thanks for any help!

I think the power cord will work but the transducer for the Gen2 is diffferent from the original and has to be changed.

Pretty sure the GenII uses the same WBL transducers that Lowrance has been using for quite a while.

Can't see why the transducer would change. Gen2 is is about pocessor speed.

I agree with the processor speed. Maybe a graphics chipset change.

I talked to the electronics rep at Bass Pro today and he said the new Gen2 transducers will not work with the older units. You can double check this with a dealer in your area. Only going off what I was told.

I looked at the Gen2 specs and they were the same as gen1 as far as appliances. I will know for sure when billbob shows up. He has a Gen2 ordered.

I am justa guessing right now.

If somebody at Bass Pro said it, you can be sure it is wrong.

I just got an HDS 10 Gen2, and it plugged in to existing equipment and works fine.
