Question about 998- getting started
Okay, I got my 998, registered it with Humminbird and Humminbird select. I think I remember the software version current on unit is 5.4? and so newest version via humminbird is 5.7. So do I download new version to computer then transfer it to SD card then to unit?
Also, it has something else- I have humminbird PC and in process of getting new computer so it will have newest windows software. so I am thinking I need to download the last 2 items, but how do I save current software version currently installed in case new one gets a glich.

Humminbird Side Imaging Forums heres a link to site that has all of the softwere versions.you can download for free.just trying to help not advertising.

Go to the sideimagingsoft.com site kosmo posted above...
In the "Download" subforum find your current version of software and download it to a blank "formatted" SD card...
Also, there should be the newest version of your software in that same place... Download the new version of software to a separate formatted SD card...
Follow the instructions closely from the RGecy youtube video...that Don G posted from earlier in this thread...

It looks like there are 3 updates for the 998. I see the 5.4 version and will download to separate SD card, then there is a 5.5 and final 5.7. Do I need to download the 5.5 as well as the 5.7 or just the current 5.4 and then the 5.7?
