    Default Depth finder on bow

Got a 998c on my console and going to upgrade my finder on the bow........looking at three options

788 hd di....798hdsi....898si.......I know the last option is the best but money is factored in here....798hd but what i've read the 798 does a lot better with the transducer upgrade and with interference on the terrova trolling motors...didn't someone have a chart that showed what views each depthfinder would give you linked together?Give me some ideas...thanks

The 788 HD DI has a different DI technology than the 898 or the 998....

Therefore the 788 DI cannot read the DI data from the 898 or the 998..
Also... The 998 and 898 cannot read the DI data from the 788 DI...

Any HB model that has "DI" in the model name has dedicated DI crystals in the xducer....
Any HB model that has "SI" in the model name gets the DI data from the SI crystals..

Thanks rickie..............Is si worth the extra money on the bow?I read where you need to update the transducer on the 798 to get better pic and keep from rf interference.........If you go that route your going to be close to what 898 would cost.

The si does best between 4 to 6mph. Just my 2 cents worth it is not worth the money go with the 788 hd di and enjoy.

I was leaning towards the 788... I wonder if the 788 0r 798 will get some of the updates that are coming this year like the casting rings......etc

HB has a "transducer trade in policy"... As long as the new xducer is unused.. HB will trade the upgraded HDSI xducer for the "compact SI xducer" that comes with the 798...

There are mixed reviews that the HDSI xducer makes any difference to the 798 image clarity... Some see a difference... Some dont....

I think both xducers have the shielded cable ... So Interference is probably not more suceptable from either of the 2....

I feel any interference possibilities would be more pertaining to how your boat's wiring interacts with the DF electronics setup...

Your decision of which technology (2d/DI/SI) on the bow should be determined by which technology would be the most beneficial to your fishing style....

I spider rig 95 % of the time .... SI on the bow is invaluable to me for finding "new" structure as I spider rig from waypoint to waypoint.....

Rickie, do you get a good SI picture at the slower speeds a trolling motor runs at? How fast do you usually run with the TM while you're looking at your bow mounted SI?

    I spider rig at 0.1mph-0.4mph...

I get great images by keeping my chart speed at 1 for these slow speeds...
