transducer question

So , I have a transducer on my trolling motor and i pull the motor up to move to another spot . Do i need to turn off that FF while i am moving so as not to damage the transducer or FF ?

No. I've left mine on for weeks without issue.

I've read that you should turn it off when the ducer is not in the water as it may do some damage. I have left mine on for short times when moving from spot to spot, but never for extended periods such as between trips, overnight, etc. What damage may be done I don't know, but I usually check everything before I leave the ramp when headed home.

Its not going to hurt anything to leave it on while moving. But a couple of weeks would run your battery down quite a bit if you didn't have an on-board charger hooked to it.

Remember reading a post by Gregg from HB and it will not hurt the ducer or the FF.

Left my HB turned on for over a week. I was having an out of body experience and just forget to pull the plug on the HB. Ran the battery down. Having said this, you would believe that something that is rated at 8000 watts would glow in the dark or something. Nothing happened. The HB worked fine after I returned to my body and charged the battery.

I’ll agree with Barnacle Bill on this one: the damage would be to your discharged battery and not to your Humminbird unit if you left it on for a couple of weeks.

I was going to agree with Cane Pole but I’m not so sure now, what with the out of body experience he had…
