Steve,
The term that is used is “Side Finding Sonar” not Side Imaging. The Fishin’ Buddies do not have Si sonar. Instead they employ a sideways pointed 2D sonar element much like our WideSide transducer do in our Humminbird products.

Any one using one of these sucessfully?
These are cell battery powered portable depth finders, used around docks and with float tubes etc. they have a color screen and side imaging.
I plan to do more jigging and want to see what life is like under, and around, the boat.
Thanks Steve

tourdriver,
I would start by watching the RTS Window in the Sonar View. Go to the Sonar menu tab and set the RTS Window menu to the Narrow setting. It will start showing a vertical flasher on the far right of the sonar chart window that will use the same colors as the sonar returns are and the Circular Flasher View will use. It may be a little easier to understand with it straight up and down like this before switching to the round Circular Flasher View.
Greg, when I am floating over a bunch of weeds growing up from the bottom, my 140C shows fish symbols at the top of the weeds. Is this a filtering issue ? How do I adjust for it ? Thanks for your help.
There is not a lot of adjustment available in the Fishin’Buddy units fatfreddie. About your only option would be to turn the Fish ID feature off.
