I have the Mark 5 pro, dual beam, and like it so far. Only have a few hours of play time on it, but like the picture, it is a bit hard to see in bright sunlight, but haven't gotten the contrast setting nailed down yet for me. fairly easy to operate once you get the hang of it, there are several different settings to select from like I would assume higher $$ units would have. Mono screen, is a good size, think about the size of 2 packs of smokes, can do split screen to show both beams at the same time or either 83/200, has the old school flasher if you want, can review a limited amount of recent history which is nice if you happen to want to look at the structure you passed over a few minutes ago. No gps, but I use a handheld which I already had. I've had lowrance for a long time, so I was leaning towards this one for a while. Also has seveal different options for type of fishing, deep, shallow, slow trolling, etc., can hook up a speed wheel if you want, keel depth offset as well. I don't know if the single beam has all of this as I have the dual beam. It shows structure a bit different than the older models, not the dark/black blob but seems to actually show some detail. How much I can really say as it's not DS or SI, that would be interesting to have a buddy with DI/SI scan some structure and then follow it up with one of the mark 5's. the depth of the fish do not show up at the fish symbol/arch, you use a bar along the side to indicate the depth of the fish. suggest you go play with one at BPS or somewhere to see if you like it.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
