    Default Humminbird Question

Question for somebody concerning Humminbird side Imaging. Can range lines be displayed on the side imaging screen on a Humminbird unit? I can do it on my Lowrance and really like the feature, since, at a glance I can tell how far an object is from me (approximately). Didn't know if I had missed something when setting up and reading my HB books.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Mike - I have a older 997 unit and with one of the last software updates this option was made available. I can't recall right off where to set it but I have them turned on.

As rwindis stated; the SI Range lines were added through software (about software version 5.320 or later). Look under the Sonar menu tab for this menu [your unit will have to be running in the Advanced User Mode to see this and other menus].

I went the s/d card route with my update, just restore the factory defaults before updating.

Its a good idea to have a copy of your current software version on a separate SD card when you update to a newer version...

If a bug develops in the update.. You can immediately revert back to your current version...

Good idea about a backup of your version. How? I backup my last two updates, but have never been able to backup the entire operating program.

So do you download the update on computer then to SD card then load SD card into FF, will it load automatically? And once updated, will I have to keep card in slot or can I remove then place a map card in?

Download to SD card inside of computer. Restore defaults and stick card in. Perform update. Remove card and restore defaults. Keep copy of software in safe place. Erase off of card then use card to record or take snapshots.
