Keep in mind you can only download for one year after initial purchase. after that, what you have on card is it unless you renew subscription at $99 a year.

Im interested in getting a few of the helix units. Does anyone know if these units are compatible with the Navionics plus cards? They are the ones where you can download the lakes that you go to anywhere in the US up to the cards capacity I think Im very interested in the plus card because I fish a lot in Alabama and Kentucky, Alabama being in the south region and Kentucky in the east region. This card would keep me from having to buy the East and South cards and just load the lakes that I fish onto one card. Thanks
Yes it is. Not sure if it will take Hotmap Platinum. Premium and Nav+ will work

Do I need micro or the normal for, this unit?
That's true, but the card holds a lot of lakes. I downloaded most of the east coast from NY to FL, and also lakes I fish in S.E. Ontario. What you have on the chip at the end of the year, you keep. During your years subscription, you can delete the card of lakes you don't plan to go back to, and reload new ones. Unfortunately, you have to delete the whole card and reload all you want to have. You can't just delete individual lakes unless they changed something.
No it is not, after the years subscription what ever is on the card stays on the card you just dont get to update it anymore unless you subscribe to Freshest Data again. The info just doesnt disappear of the card.
So your choice is to go by another card for full price or renew the subscription
