Default I Pilot Remote problem again.

I have the older I pilot remote model (less than two years old). I have had it replaced because of button problem/water damage and now the replacement want stay on. I don't use it all the time and take care of it. Keep it clean, dry out of the weather. It is disappointing that it fails when you really need it. Is the new version remote better and will it work with about a 2 year old Terrova Ipilot? I going to service shop and hopefully I can talk him in giving me a new model if it will work and since it is still under warrany. Just wandering if others having the same problems.

The new i-Pilot remote is compatible with the current controller (head unit). I ran this configuration for a couple weeks this fall before replacing my controller with the updated one, and the new remote + old head unit combo works just fine. Under these conditions, however, you will still be limited to the original set of 3 spot lock locations and 3 recorded tracks. Nevertheless, you'll enjoy all of the benefits of the new remote, which are definitely worth the investment.

You can learn more about the new remote, and the new system as a whole, from the articles at the link below:

Just a suggestion, but what you are describing may be an old battery....if you get a nice new free one, then who cares, but if they give you any trouble, try a new battery.

Great Customer Service from the Crappie Hole in Chapin,SC - Authorized Minnkota Repair Service. Took the old style remote back that I was having problems with and Mark gave me a new style remote with no questions asked. I like the new style remote alot better than the old one. The buttons are easier to push and the screen is easier to see. I can make finer steering adjustment better than before.

Just received my new Ipilot. The new remote is a big improvement over the old one.
