    Default interlinked 798 c si w/ 798ci si?

Looked for previous posts on this but didn't find one. Wondering if there are issues with GPS (or anything for that matter) if you interlinked these two units as one has internal antenna and one not. Will the ci unit draw off the external antenna and does that matter? Thanks.

When the units are InterLinked you will get an extra menu (GPS Receiver Override) under the Nav menu tab that allows you to select which GPS Receiver that unit uses. I’m going to try and attach a pdf file that helps explain this for you…
… file size is too big for this web site! Send me a direct e-mail and ask for the GPS Receiver Override menu document and I can send it to you.

I've got a couple of 798s interlinked. The console unit has external gps with the puck at the transom. The bow unit has internal gps. Seems to work good for me, but I'm no expert by any means.

It will work fine. As Greg said you will get extra manu features that will allow you to select which gps you want to use at each unit.

OK, so now the question is if it were you, and you had the 798c si at the console, would you replace the bow mount with a DI unit as opposed to another Si unit? Is there any advantage in having an SI unit on the bow over the DI? Thanks.

For me the advantage is having a wider "field of view" while fishing. I may find something that I want to mark and come back to later that isn't directly under the boat. If I had to choose one location for an SI unit, it would be at the console for the purpose of scanning new areas, but SI can also come in handy up front too.

The question you should ask yourself is "Do I want to see what's going on out to each side while I fish or have a clearer picture of what is directly underneath while I fish?". Just a matter of personal preference IMO.

It is a draw for me. I like the SI up front if I am trolling b/c it opens up your field of view. After seeing the difference in th DI from SI and true DI I would like true DI up front to inspect a piece of structure.

I find SI invaluable for finding new structure as I fish...

I spend 95% of my fishing day at the TM....so...

For every 1 new brushpile I find while at the console....I can find 20 while at the TM....

SI at the TM allows me this lopsided comparison in "finding new structure"...

DI (without SI) at the TM only allows marking "new structure" that is directly under the xducer...
