Smally .... the Elite 5 DSI card slot does not "screw" shut. But, in any case, I did have a similar experience as you. That tiny micro-sd card can be tough to handle. You have to make sure that you push it into the slot as far as it will go ... and then make sure you close the trap door until it's flush with the outer surface of the unit. To retrieve the card from the slot, you have to "push" the card "in" & then release your finger pressure before pulling on the card to remove it.

If the card is not locking into place, and needs extra pressure to hold it in & work ... then your unit is defective & may need to be repaired/replaced.
