Thanks CP!
As far as the Sale Price, that's how it always goes, when ever I'm ready to buy something, it's never on sale. I'll let you guys know when I make a purchase 'cause a week later it'll be on sale![]()

Here are some links that I've found useful :
Operations Manual : http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...-10153-001.pdf (menu settings & operations info)
GPS coordinates converter : GPS Coordinate Converter, Maps and Info (to convert GPS coordinates from any one of four variations, to the one that your unit can use)
Elite 5 DSI update page : Elite 3.6 - LOWRANCE | Marine Electronics (updates for the E5DSI unit ... requires a 2GB (maximum) micro SD card for transfer of update info)
Lake Levels page : Lake Levels (lake level info for many lakes in the USA)
Micro SD card w/reader (USB 2.0 flashdrive) : OEMPCworld - Search Results for bmz-c (micro SD card/reader combo for use in updating unit, or downloading screenshots)

Just an update on the verticle lines we spoke of on the e5. For those that have not read my post I run a e4 at the wheel and a e5 up front. had verticle lines on the e5...turned off sonar on the e4 and all is good to go. nice and crisp. Was planning on posting a pic but got tied up on the fishing lol, never saved a photo.
hope it helps someone.
I'm also thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these.
I was wondering whose map card do you all use?
“No Matter Where You Go, There You Are!”
Right now, I'm using the chartplotter base map that comes with the unit.
From all I've heard/read ... Navionics maps seem to be the most popular, overall. You can even buy a Elite 5 Gold unit, that has the Navionics Gold micro sd card included. That card covers the entire USA (all 50 states) ... and costs ~ $200 by itself. The only significant difference in that unit, is that it runs the 83/200 kHz sonar frequencies, whereas the Elite 5DSI runs the 455/800 kHz frequencies.
The Elite 5DSI will accept Navionics, Lakemaster, & Fishing Hot Spots micro sd map chips. Also, the Lake Insight Pro 2012 map chip is worth comparing to any other map card in the ~ $100 range. Lake Insight

I bought the Navionics Southeast card along with my unit last weekend. When I downloaded the updates from Navionics it also installed the map on my computer. It's great, I'm enjoying just looking around on my various lakes. Now I am placing waypoints and routes on the map that I can (hopefully) download on the unit. Here's their website:
Navionics - We start where the road ends | Navionics
The map on the home page actually works (zoom, scroll, etc.). Check it out.

Cabela's: Lowrance® Elite-5 DSI Sonar with GPS
i have a question would you buy this until again? i been looking for something with not have anything right now. how would you rate this unit from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best. The local sporting goods say there the best for under $600 now.
I'm really itching to pull the trigger on this. Cabela's has it for $299 + $20 off coupon and i have a $50 gift card. I rarely fish any deeper than 15-18ft and average around 10-14ft. Usually looking for bass and crappie. I'd want to put this on the front of my boat on the trolling motor. Do you guys think this would be a good match for what i want to do? I have a 17' bass tracker
