The replacement should be here today and as soon as they send me a prepaid return label, the brick will be going back to them.

Hopefully, once you get the "good" unit & try it out, and see what it can do ... you'll be glad you got one !!
I understand your frustration ... but, if they send you a new unit BEFORE even looking at the bad one, and they're paying the return postage for the bad unit ... that sounds like pretty good customer service IMHO.
Check to see what software version it's running. If it's not the 3.6 version, get a micro sd card & reader and upload the update ... then download it to your unit. Then you can split screen over/under !! (see earlier posts for links to the update, and a link to a $6-$7 micro sd card/usb flashdrive reader)

Good idea to keep a card in it anyway for screen shots.
You're right Bill - wish I could do that, but have the Navionics map card in there. The blank card is so small that I keep it tucked away. I figure that it's like having crickets on board (yes I enjoy jerking perch on occasion), that once it's loose it remains in the boat and I can't get it. You folks who fish with crickets know what I mean.
The new unit is installed and works like a charm... in the garage anyway. I plan on hitting the water with it tomorrow. I loaded the updates on my Navionics card last night. I'm not sure what version the unit itself is running yet but it will do the top/bottom split screen already. It's going to take me a while to commit all of the menu navigation to memory.
Has anyone tried saving screenshots to the Navionics card? I don't know why you couldn't if there's space left on the card. It's not write protected to be able to do updates on it and save waypoints for upload to the Navionics software that loads onto your computer. I looked at the raw data on the computer last night and everything for the map is in a folder in the root directory. I would think that the unit would save the pics out there on the root as well or make another folder for them.
Quacker ... if you are already able to do the horizontal (top/bottom) screen split, I would assume your unit has already been updated to the 3.6 version.
I'd contact Navionics about the use of their map card for screen shots or update data ... as I wouldn't want you to mess up a high $$ map card !! I would think that the map cards were "read only", otherwise they'd advertise the capability of adding "other data" as a selling point.

Trit, if im at the boat ramp and turn on the unit it will show the house but soon goes to my location. If i go to another lake it will show this new area once turned on as well.
Probably just a setting issue....ill check and get back to you unless pappy hits you up first.
