I have been using my Lowrance Elite-5 DSI for plotting and Way Points an dthe more I use it the more I like it. I had 10 Waypoints in an old Garmin Etrex, mostly Brush 15-30 feet deep. I had some problems with the Etrex and figured I better stop fishing long enought to put the Way Points in the 5 DSI. I did not stop fishing but I do take some time out to put some Way Points in each time out. I was able to correct the problem with the Etrex not finding the Satel lites to work so that made locating the spots easier and then seeing on the depth finder the brush then marking the Way Point. If anyone has an Etrex that cannot find the Satellites I may be able to assist and send u an e-mail of how to fix it. I have used the Map feature in the 5 DSi to GO TO in the fog running slow of course and sure makes it a sure thing. My next move will be to purchase a Navtronics Map with Watts Bar Lake on it. I guess I really do not need it but get one anyway. they show the contours and can see them on the 5 DSI. The guys at the Depth Finder Counter at the Bass Pro Shop in Nashville took time to answer a lot of questions I had about the 5 DSI. Made things a lot easier for me when I used it the next time. Still catching a lot of good Crappie on Watts Bar, but I think this cold spell will slow things down a lot.
