    Default New 1198 SI

Just got a HB1198 and wanted to know if I could use the SDHC cards for loading new software from HB. I didn't see any cards at Wally World that just said SD only. Thanks for any response on this subject. I don't know any body that fishes with side imaging.

"HC" simply means higher capacity. SD and SDHC cards will also have a "class" number (shown on the face of the card in an open circle) which indicates how fast data can be written or read to/from the card. Class numbers range from 2 upwards. Bigger numbers mean faster data handling--important in digital cameras and other high performance electronics, but unimportant for a finder. Before buying a new SD card, scavenge old electronic devices you've put aside (especially retired digital cameras) and you may find a perfectly good SD card for free!

I use 8 GB and 16 GB cards in my 1198 without any issues.

Actually a faster writing SD card will respond quicker when writing data to the card...such as snapshots and recordings....

There is a LOT of data being written to the SD card during snapshots and recordings and a faster writing SD card will allow the unit to transfer that data to the card and get back to "live" view quicker...

I use the Sandisk Extreme III 20mbs .....and I plan on upgrading to the Extreme III 30mbs.....

Thanks for the info guys. Thought they would be ok. My next question is formating it. Is this easy because I already have version 5.7 uploaded from the factory on it. If I don't need to update I would still like to have a SD formated and ready in the unit.
