    Thanks for the info there Bob. I have played around with LEDs in the past and you are right about the cost of the colored ones. I believe that they also do not normally have the same life span as the white ones either (not that a whole lot us old farts would out live one of your lights). I imagine you can get a more consistent color using the colored acrylic as I saw variations in color from the cheaper green and blue LEDs I used.

    I have the plastic 612 and the acrylic 712 , there's a big difference between them, the 712 is smaller in diameter and much harder than the plastic. Anyone that buys a light like this should take care of it like a good rod & reel, but if you happen to step on the 712, I don't think it would hurt it any..
