Use a bilge pump and hook a spray bar to the outfeed hose. That's what bait tank builders use. Some even make filters for shad which die from the loose scales. If you need some help, you know where I'm at.
Interested in this setup. Can you post a picture of it?
You can't finish what you don't start
This is correct...most atwood pumps (maybe all) will not pull head pressure meaning they will not pull water UP into the pump....
The pump has to be installed so that the pump is below the water line...
Also realize that installing a pump in the water itself may create heat (some...don't know how much)to dissapate into the water caused by the pump running...heat in livewell water is not a good thing..
Depending on the type of pump you have, you may be able to drill a hole in the side of the cooler below the water line and mount your pump thru this access hole...
If you are interested in a pump design that will pull head pressure look at a RV water supply pump or a 12v pump that comes on a garden sprayer (the kind you could use on the back of a 4 wheeler with a 12v supply)
Some of these type pumps will pull head pressure up to 6 ft....this is the very kind I use in my livewell/cooler setup with the pump mounted to the lid and it will pull water up into the pump....
