I have an optima blue top battery that I have been using about every other weekend now for 3 years. I longline all year except when the crappie are schooled up around shallow cover. They are high dollar batteries for sure, but I run the daylights out of mine just about every trip and recharge it soon as I park the boat. I have yet to see any decrease in the time I spend trolling with it.
I also would like to add that I got both of mine for free. I don't think I would pay that much for a battery. I am Army and my unit had two of them from the deployment they where going to throw away. I snatched them up quick. I will update this post when my trolling battery finally starts to show some decrease in power on the water. Most trips I would say I troll around 6 or so hours. Depending on the weather and current and how fast I was moving around, I would have around 30-60% of battery power left over. 60% days are usually perfect conditions with wind/current helping me or usually 5 hour days. My wife's rules are off the water by noon if I go every other weekend. I am going to miss her when she starts working on Saturdays next month.
