I took the 597 ci hd di unit off my boat and powered in simulator mode to program waypoints in my spare time while sitting around the house.Once it power off its they are gone. I have not tried this while the unit is on the boat in normal mode yet...maybe that's why but with this weather I'm getting haven't gave me a chance to see if that solve my problem. Any help is great.

Hunterjt...did you force the unit into simulator mode or did you just let the unit power itself up into "point of sale" mode...??

The Hb units will not save any changes made while in the "point of sale" mode....

All I did was open the box when I got home and started adding waypoints. I know it in simulator mode like you stated so maybe thats why. Once I go online and reg. That will take it out of point of sale mode? Also it tell me to us my SD card will a 2g be good enough since I already have one.

    Thanks

I doubt it would save anything in simulator mode. I think if you power up without a transducer attached it automatically goes into simulator mode. You need the manually select regular operation on start up.

Did you use the right coordinates? If not, they may be in China.

    Hunterjt,
When you connect it up while in your house the unit detects that it does not have a transducer connected to it and automatically goes into the Point of Sale Simulator mode. While in this mode the unit does not remember any menu changes or additions/deletions to the waypoints and will reset all after about two minutes of a button not being pressed. There is a way around this though: you need to use your unit in the “forced” Simulator mode. To get there do this:
    - Power the unit on with only the power cable connected as you have been doing.
    - While the unit is still showing the title screen (shows something like “Humminbird 597ci HD DI”), press the MENU button.
    - The unit should show three menu options. Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons to select “Simulator” and than the Right Arrow button to start it in this mode.
The unit should than start up in a simulator mode that will now remember the menu selections you make and also the waypoints that you enter into the unit. Be sure to use the power button to turn the unit off and your new waypoints should be there when you use it on your boat.
