    Default Terova I pilot

I went from a Maxum 80# to a Terova I pilot 80#. I have noticed that my top speed is not as great. About 0.5 mph (3.0mph to 2.5 mph) slower. Has anyone else noticed this when they have changed over? Battery are the same ones.

I went from Motorguide 80# to Minnkota Riptide ST 80# (same as Terrova) and had the same thing happen (3.5 to 3). The MK does not spin as fast as far as I can tell. I used a Kipawa prop on both motors so the prop should not contribute much to the speed difference.

Yes. I put marks on the shafts 18" and 24" above the transducer and set the depth to be 24". That way I can set the offset on my depth finder to get a more accurate reading.

I can not tell you if mine are the same or not. Same length shaft. But the way they deploy is completly different. I do know that they are both completly under water.

I found I had a bad battery. Got it replaced. Have not had it back on water to check speed. Not sure when battery went bad. Had noticed that the last few times out, they were dying quicker. They were 6 years old so I had gotten two new ones. When I got the old ones out, one measured 12.5 volts and the other was 10.5. This was after both had been recharged. So maybe that was my loss of speed. I hope so...
