This was posted by jonc on the locked donut thread:
"I looked at the video several times. If i'm not mistaking the lowrance shows the arrow forward.. but shows tracks going the opposite direction. Real nice."

jonc, the other lines you saw on the Eagle (not Lowrance ) screen were just pre-existing tracks, that video was shot in the mouth of a creek that the boat had already been over a couple of times that day. There was a straight line during the filming on all 4 of the units shown and also accurate directional arrows on 3 of them, I know that because I was doing the filming. Watch it again and you will see.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C3O93OBpJE

    Also, welcome to the forum.

So i watched it again.. and you sir are correct... Thanks for the welcome. I thought Lowrance made eagle. Anyhow let's look at this from another direction. Maybe they can't fix the donut. Maybe our units are as good as WE think they are. Maybe they don't wana talk about the donut cause it's a Bigger problem than we think it is.

You're right, Lowrance and Eagle are pretty much the same thing. I think it can be fixed, clearly Garmin, Lowrance/Eagle, Delorme and others who market GPS units have figured it out - this is an industry standard that HB is failing to meet IMO. The HB's are just programmed to display the donut once speed drops below .5 mph rather than a directional arrow. As I understand it some programming modifications could be made to correct that issue and be made available through a firmware update, I believe at least one of the HB reps who post on c.com have been quoted saying essentially that. We'll see....
