I had a similar situation years ago. I solved it by bolting a "L" shape bracket to the boat where I wanted the TM. I attached a piece of 2 X 4 to the upright part to attach the TM. It worked great.

build you a l shape bracket. on the up side where the motor goes mount a 2x4 or 2x6 besure and make the up side the same width as the wood. mount the bracket to the side of the boat rail at front you may want to sit in the seat and figure out where you want it. i would use a peice of 1/4 inch plate metal the same width as the mount on the trolling motor. just besure and make it long enough to get about 4 or 5 bolts a couple inches apart thriugh the rail. hope this helps. sorry don't know how to post a diagram.

You can try this method with some angle iron and save yourself some cash...

Or BassPro has this mount, but it has bad reviews...

Cabelas has this for $75ish, but no reviews yet

A while back I saw a conversion kit to convert a transom mount motor to a foot control unit. It looked cool, but cost over $200 - sorry I couldn't find a link.
    Good luck!

Wasilvers I looked at the Bass pro one just wish it had better reviews, the second wont work on my boat. I was thinking I might build my own along the lines of the Bass pro model but mount it on a swivel base so it could be adjusted side to side to. Thanks for the suggestions guys,
    Stan
