    Cane, How would I check for a bad connection ? is it not all sealed from motor & control box , except for the short fuse wire ? Thanks

    Check at the battery post and by removing the cover at the TM. The power is plugged into the TM module via spade lug. Just cause it came from the factory don't mean it can't come loose or corrode. Just a scientific guess here.

    Take your meter and measure between TM batt negative and the crank batt negative with the sonar head unit plugged but no power turned on. You should read near continuity. Unscrew the knurled us2 cable. Check to see that the connection between the TM batt negative and start batt is now open (after you undo the pig tail cable). If you are still reading ground, then you have something else shorting the battery negatives together.
