talltimber,
What software are you running in these two units?
What is the actual model number of the 788 unit?

988 on the dash returned a interlink failed connection, or something to that effect. I checked my cables here last night and it loaded/connected - worked fine. At the lake, not working, failed connection. Checked cables and still a no-go. Anyone run into this problem? I don't think there is anything wrong with the devices. I think it's either in the cable connections or possibly the interlink ports. Got the connections in the cables taped up. The cables feel tight in the ports of the interlink.Otherwise it works fine. Bow unit, 788ci, works fine with the interlink, or appears to.

I'll get it, the boat's not here and I'm not set up to run the units here in the house. I appreciate the help.
In the model block on the system page all it said was 788. It's a 788ci (no HD DI) model. The other unit is a 998c si. I can give you the serial numbers also if you need them.
The 788 software is 4.780, and the 998 has 4.970. The 788 will comm. with the interlink and the 998 won't (now). "Synch. failed-participation canceled"
The 998 has synch'd and exchanged points before now, a couple of different times.
talltimber,
You need to call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and see if they have the 4.995 InterLink BETA software for both the 788ci and 998c Si units. They should give you some instructions on loading it as well. 1-800-633-1468
Will do. Thanks a bunch.
They put me on the list.

Forget the interlink, Get the software updates for the new eithernet cable and of course a eithernet cable.
:D Local guy, Great deals! www.thecrappiehotspot.com Thumbs Up
The 2011 798 HD is the only 700 series that will work with the ethernet. FYI the 798 HD does not have a port on the back either, it goes in the bottom like all the other cooections.
