I just bought a new 898c SI Combo for the console and a new 596c HD DI for the bow. My boat is at the dealer getting a new boarding ladder installed so I have been playing with them both in simulator mode to get familiar with the menus. While looking through the views and view menus on the 596 I noticed that in split sonar view it shows the 200kHz view on one side and the 455 kHz view on the other side. I get a simulated return on the 200 side but the 455 side is pure white..blank. Can someone tell me if this is normal in sim mode..I thought I should see everything in sim mode. Everything else works just like the manual says so this has me a bit concerned. I won't be able to mount them on the boat till sometime late next week so this is the only way I have to try it right now. Can someone with this unit try unhooking your transducer and run it in sim mode and see if both sides show a return in please..I need my mind put at ease. Also..when I switch the main sonar view to 455kHz the screen goes white again??? It's like there is no 455 kHz working in sim mode..wierd.
