Having said all that I can tell you that we did a little test of our own and found that you use approximately 56MB of memory space for 10 minutes of Sonar Recording so a 30 minute recording would be about 168MB in size (your mileage may vary though).

Memory cards come in different speed ratings and this is probably due with how they are built. The faster the memory card the faster Screen Snapshots will be saved and the less likelihood that there will be any lag between the unit and the memory card. If you have ever used a slow memory card in a digital camera you will understand this as you may have had to wait for the camera to finish writing the last picture to the memory card before you can take the next picture.
Thanks a lot. i have started doing some recording for short periods (10 min or so just to see the size). Just got on the water with the new 898 this week so i have not had time to review the records. I record several amd the largest was 64 m. On an 8 g card that should work ok for several days fishing.
