It definitely sounds like a transducer problem to me.

I sent my non working front lowrance unit back with $300 dollars and they sent me a LMS520 last fall. Well I up graded the software and all I got was colored bars across the screen. So I called the help line and they asked if I could find someone with a Lowrance I could hook it up to. Soooooo I took out my console Lowrance LCX25 out which works and put in the front lms 520. Again all I got was a screen of colored bars. Soooooo I called help again and they had me send it in. It came back saying it was fine. By this time the ice was on so I could not check it. Well I check it thur. on the lake and all I got was colored bars and the bottom. I am guessing here that somewhere in the finder there is a setting for the transducer. I can't find it. Oh my transducer is built into my MinKota trolling motor.
Any help here would be great!
Thanks
Bill
It definitely sounds like a transducer problem to me.
Try using a ext transducer from Lowrance and see if that solves your problem. FYI, on that unit really don't have worry about selecting transducers. That only on HDS units.

I am going to take the back one out and try it up front and see what happens, then I will try a ext transducer. Maybe I could hook it up to the hull mounted transducer?

Here is a pic of what my screen looks like. I did try the back one in the front and it works.
Any ideas
Thanks

I had almost the same problem on a 522. Called lowrance, and it ended up being zoomed in too far. You might try the zoom out
According to his screen shot he is not zoomed in at all.

The other transducers is in the hull and it runs the LCX 25. When they sent me the new finder I never got a book so I don't know how to go to any of the setting. The transducer for the new finder is built into the bottom of my Minn Kota Maximum Pro
Still trying.
