Default HB 997C, 858C, and Interlink

I am currently using 4.995 Beta software on both units so Interlink works. Everything is working well at this time. Am I safe to upgrade the 997C to version 5.320 and the 858C to version 5.210 and have the Interlink work or should I just leave version 4.995 on the units?

Nope have to stick with the 4.995. Have to wait till 5.320 is available for both. I talked to HB about this same thing. I am also running the 4.995 beta.

I am running a 798 with the 5.210 on the bow & a 997 with the 5.320 on the consol. Both are interlinked. No problems at all.

You can run the 5.210 & the 5.320 together. You'll have a problem if you try & run the 4.995 & the 5.320.

Yeah, I read that the last time you corrected me. HB tells me it wont work. Maybe you should let HB know that you can run it.

Allan, the most recent version of software on our website for the 1197 is 5.320 and for the 798, it is 5.210. If you update one, you must update both. You can get these updates from your online account at the below link. But again, I would suggest that you wait a few weeks as we are still working out a few bugs.

I talked to'um on Friday the 11th & was told I was good ta go as long as I updated both units. Updated both units & both linked up fine. There's some new features on this release that I like. The Interlink window is new too.

I updated two 898's to 5.210 and interlink crapped out. I had to get the 4.995Beta to get interlink to work again.

I recommend the original poster to update both and test Interlink in the garage. If it works, great. If not, reload 4.995 and call HB and complain.

That's odd. It's my understanding that when you hook up a unit with upgraded software to the Interlink, it upgrades the software on the interlink. So if the upgrade went thru to the Interlink & it wouldn't link up, the software on the Interlink would have to be rolled back also. Now my question is... Did you role back the software on the interlink? If yes, how the heck did ya do it? I was under the impression the Interlink would have to be sent in to be reprogrammed. How did you do it? This is good information to have. It might happen to me too.

Now another thought. If you didn't have to role back the software on the Interlink it never was upgraded by the first unit you turned on. That would explain how you were able to role the units back to the previous version & have them work.

When I updated my units I hooked them up and turned on 1 unit. The unit updated the software on the Interlink & did it's thing. I then shut that unit down and turned on the other unit & let it do it's thing. After that unit did it's thing I turned the other unit back on. They went thru the linkup process & all is good with no issues. For now that is. :D

I may call Rhonda today & see what's go'n on. I don't think it was her that I talked to on Friday. Well I know it wasn't Rhonda. Can't remember who it was though. But I was told that as long as both units had the latest 5.whaterver version I was good to go. Now this was just 1 day after Allen got his email from Rhonda. I wonder if the person I talked to was unaware of the problem.

Like you said, it may be a problem just associated with a certain unit model. Sounds like the common denominator is the 800 series.

Let me know how you reprogrammed the Interlink (if you had to). That may come in handy someday,

    Thanks

The instructions with 4.995Beta said to turn on unit 1 first and leave unit 2 off. When I did this, it said it was reprogramming Interlink. I didn't have to do anything other than that. I then turned on unit 2. I at first had some issues seeing Unit 2 from Unit 1, but somehow Unit 2 waypoints were locked. I shared them and all was fine with the world.
