Ok... I for one hate the donut. But why should humminbird change the donut to a arrow that may or may not be pointing the right direction? Donut just says there not 100% sure which direction your going. Maybe they should throw in a few fake arches on the screen too so they can say they show more fish than the competition.

    jonc..please watch the video again....
YouTube - Humminbird Project Donut GPS comparison

The competition's units show a very stable directional tracking icon all the way down to 0.1mph...

An important segment of the "Project HB Donut" discussion revolves around the comparison/difference of a very simple and straightforward fact...

"If the competition can show a directional tracking icon down to 0.1mph at no extra cost, then HB should be able to do the same"..

    0.1 mph?

I looked at the video several times. If i'm not mistaking the lowrance shows the arrow forward.. but shows tracks going the opposite direction. Real nice.

If you want to live in in lala land where the gps just show's where it thinks your going then by all means buy the other units.

Humminbird could fix this buy just showing an arrow in the direction of where it was going when you droped below the threshold of .5 mph.

I understand it is frustrating. I've been in the same boat trying to find a waypoint and the damn donut show up. But what I'm trying to convey is. The competitor is not showing you anything that the humminbird isn't. It's a guessing game when you drop to to those slow speeds and when you want to get over some type of structure. It's done most of the work getting you within 10 feet of the way-point.

Pretty much after that you better start looking on your sonar to find it. The donut is a feature in my book. It's letting me know the truth. And the truth is GPS isn't as accurate as we would all like it to be.

Not that big of a deal in my book... Proud owner of a 997 and 798 non HD. Gona upgrade soon too the new stuff

Nothing against lowrance either. They just don't have a donut to show that they don't have a clue on which way your going.
