Create a folder on your desktop labled HB...

Download Humminbird PC 3.2.0 to that folder..this downloaded file will be something like Humminbird.exe...

Click on this .exe file and it should unpack HB PC into that same HB folder that you created on your desktop...

Once the program is unpacked from the .exe file, there should be 2 items now in the HB folder...the .exe unpack file and the actual HB PC program....

If you don't see the HB PC program in this folder (and only the .exe unpack file) is the only thing listed....on your desktop..go to Start/Programs and see if HB PC is listed there....

If HB PC is listed in your program files...right click and drag it to the HB folder you created on the desktop...when you let go of the right click..choose "Copy File"..

This will make a copy of the HB PC program in that HB folder on your desktop..where you can get to it easily in the future....

Double click on the HB PC program to open in and start studying the "Help" files at the top of the opening page...this is the only manual available for the HB PC program....

I have to log off now but post questions anyway..someone here will help you....

I got the hb pc downloaded, opened it up, spent some time looking at it, browsing the help.

I was going to try to put the combo update into my 788. If I'm reading my manual correct, I should be able to just download that upgrade to an SD card, but that in the 788, power the 788 up and it should recognize the upgrade. Is that correct?

Reset your unit to factory defaults before you shut it down for the update procedure.

I understand the update procedure, but am still at a loss on how to transfer waypoints to my 788. I have downloaded HB PC and have opened the GPX file containing my waypoints into it and can view them fine. Problem is I am missing how to transfer these files to a SD card from the program and then to the 788. Can you transfer a gpx file from a SD card directly into the 788 like you do an update? If so what is the correct procedure?

If I remember correctly...when you put your card in your pc's reader slot ..there should be a green (maybe blue) arrow under the pic of the SD card pointing up towards the card....

Highlight with your mouse the waypoints you want to load onto the card...in the right hand window pane...

Click on the arrow that is pointing up towards the pic of the SD card...and it should tell you if the WP's are loading...

Thanks rnvinc, will give that a try. I assume you should delete old update off the SD card before doing this.... or does it matter?

Rnvinc is correct; it’s the green arrow or you can select “File” than “Upload” and than your SD card drive letter.

You will be given the option to “ADD” to the contents on the SD card or “REPLACE” the contents on the SD card. “Contents” being whatever is contained in the DATA.HWR file.
