Thread: 586c HD questions

Can somebody tell me if it is possible to record and review, (whatever they call that?? where you can review what you recorded on your sonar back at the dock), and do a screen capture etc. on the new 586c HD 2d sonar only unit?

I set through one of Lance Valentines sonar seminars, (very interesting and educational) a couple of weeks ago. He is a firm believer in a good color unit with high resolution and learn to use it and gain confidence in it. He says he feels he can identify the type of fish on his color sonar about 70 % of the time. He says the new side imaging and down imaging are great especially for finding structure, but if you can only have one on your boat you would be better off buying a high resolution color finder (he said no less than 480 pixels vertical) and learn how to use it and gain confidence in it. Walleye pro Johnnie Candle was also there and said he would 100% agree with that. By the way Lance uses Lowrance and Johnnie uses Humminbird. He had images of his Lowrance unit with fish and structure on 2D sonar, down imaging and side imaging. You could see the fish and structure on all three, with just the 2D you could not identify the structure and with the other two you could plainly see a submerged tree but the fish were much easier to see on the 2D. His opinion was if you drive around looking for fish with SI or DI only it will be very easy to miss the fish as they show up as a little white dot. With color sonar they will be a orange or yellow spot. Of course he was talking walleye fishing mostly but he did have a couple screen shots of what crappie looked like on his unit.
