    Ok thanks...

I think 2D is just going to be old technology from now on, and I think you can get upgraded mapping packages via the SD slot. I still don't know what the difference is in the trolling motor transducer bracket but I guess I'll find out since I have one ordered.

Yea I might have to look into one of these units. I have a 522i gps and would really like the DSI that comes with this unit. I already have a navionics premium card so the mapping is no big deal. And I think the DSI compared to the 2D sonar would be better also. As far as the side scan, even though thats some awesome images, probably wouldn't change the way I fish all that much(longline)...Not worried about networking either...So if thats about all thats different I might start trying to sell my unit.lol Thanks for the info guys!!

Thanks, I'll post a picture of the one I have ordered if it looks any different.

I think Transducer Shield and Saver is working on a metal version of this.

    Default Elite DSI Transducer

Attached are pictures of the Elite DSI transducer and the mounting hardware it comes with...basically a skimmer transom setup. The plastic mounting arm which slides into the dovetail on the transducer may not be very strong. The separate trolling motor mount will be essential and appears much more durable. The metal version from Transducer Shield and Saver when complete will be even better. Attachment 53890rAttachment 53889eAttachment 53888.Attachment 53887
