    Default Map Chip

Can you look at the maps on your PC from any of the lake map chip so that you can plan your trip before you get to the lake?
I am looking a buying one but would like be able to school my at home before i am on the water. It seems to be a waste of good fishing time to study a map while on the water.

Not sure...would hate to hurt the card by plugging it into the PC since they cost as much as they do. You'd be WAY AHEAD to study the paper maps and use the maps in your df for staying on the structure (and waypointing structure) in the areas you picked IMO.

Go to Navionics Hot Maps Explorer, you can print these maps off of dvd but you cant down load them. Be sure and check if your lake is on there. Twenty dollars. My lake wasnt on so I didnt order. Hope this helps.

The Navionics web site should have a listing of the software programs that can be used to view their mapping cards on your computer: NavPlanner and Fugawi are two that come to mind but there may be more. I believe that you also have to use their map card reader to do this, but that might be a part of the software package too.
