Default HD DI or Side Image

I sent this question to HB and thought there would be some interest on this board.
I troll for crappie and walleye in Arizona where the lakes are rather small except Lake Powell which I do want to fish.
I have a HB 788c and 383c. I pilot with universal sonar. Lund almn. 1667SC.
I particularly like the HD DI as well as the 1198c si and 998c si.
I can find the brush with my curred equipment but can't interpet very well.
I would like to be able to 'hover' over an area with the spot lock feature on the I pilot and see what is below me.
It seems both units will require a dedicated transducer which I would mount on the transom.
I would mount the unit to a board that I could move around the boat.
The HD DI seems as the answer however 5" is max screen size.
It seems the only difference between the 1198 and 988 is screen size.
I almost think that the 5" would be fine but there may be value in a larger screen.
    What do you think?

Here's the question: while I could afford 60" TV I live in a travel trailer and a 26" is just fine.
Between the 788ci and the garmin 72 I can find and mark brush. What I can't do is interupt the screen very well. The HB 596c HD DI seems to be able to handle that.
Will the larger units give me that much 'extra bang for the buck?'

One advantage I've found with also having SI is....

If I'm approaching a marked brushpile waypoint and I miss going directly over it by only 5 ft in 10 ft of water....the brushpile will not be in the sonar cone to show on the 2d or DI screen...

By having the SI I can tell which side of the boat I missed it by ...making it easier to turn around and find it....beats going around in circles looking for brush that I know is there....

    Steve,
The only difference between the 998 and 1198 is the screen size. All other functions and capabilities are the same.

I think that if you like the HD DI sonar than you are locked into a 5 inch display... The larger displays are easier to see, especially if you have weak eyes (I have to wear my bi-focals to read this!) or if you are a distance from the unit. If you can see well enough and are close enough to the display than I think the 5-inch display would work fine.

Worked fine with my 510. Mounting any transducer on the v2 sucks.
