    Default 777c2 Pics

    Well had to find a place out of the wind, but finally did :o

    This one is as close to Tommy's as I could get.
    Water here was fairly clear, could see my jig 3ft or so down.
    Beam = 200/83
    200kHz Sens = 13
    Surface Cluster = 1
    83kHz = 5
    Scroll Speed = 8
    Clear Mode
    All others default

    This one same location but with Max Mode all other settings the same

    Another location with some fish and structure (Max Mode)

    Different location where I knew there was something down there.
    Same settings as the 1st picture (Clear Mode)

    Last two locations were fish I keep 9.

    To me the Max Mode shows too much BS for me to look at. I like clear mode. But with Tommy's I think you may have a hardware problem, JMHO.
    What do ya'll think, heck mine may be screwed up and I just got lucky :D:p
    But still have not been able to get the fish arc, I'm sure I could with one of the older versions, gut can't remember which one. I think it's scroll speed and boat speed, cause on the 1197 I can make it show some arcs when both are close together.

    thanks for the pics and settings. I have tried everything and even toggled between 2 different transducers, so I too think its a hardware problem with the unit. Maybe humminbird Greg will give some advice as how to ship back to them and let them fix it?????
    Thanks again

    Tom needs to test his unit on someone else’s boat with the settings they normally use to see if they can get similar results. If they do than it is either both transducers on his boat or the transducer switch. It’s rare but I’ve seen where a switch can have a resistive connection inside of it which can cause reduce sensitivity. Otherwise he would need to call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468 and talk with them about getting the unit shipped in to be tested.

    The important menu settings for showing jigs or fish are: Sensitivity, Beam Select, 83kHz Sensitivity (if you are using the 83kHz sonar), Surface Clutter, SwitchFire and Noise Filter. If you want to show fish with arches than you need to also watch the Chart Speed menu setting as well. Setting a different Color Palette may make it easier to see some of the weaker sonar returns from baitfish or other objects that return little sonar back to the transducer (like water logged wood/trees/brush or the leading and trailing edges of a fish arch). If you are not showing fish I would set the Beam Select to the 200/83kHz setting, set the Noise Filter to Off, set the Surface Clutter to the highest setting, set the SwitchFire to the Max Mode. Now you will have to tailor these menu settings to your individual wants and needs especially when it comes to the Surface Clutter and SwitchFire menus.

    Fisherman Wannabe did you have a second sonar unit on at the time you took the pictures you posted? I ask because I see vertical lines that are typical of some type of interference.

    Yes the 1197 was on and in Max Mode. The 777 is the only one getting the vertical lines
    I have tried the Noise Filter all the up to Max 3 still get them.

    Alan,
    About the only thing that you can try would be to manually set a Lower Range menu setting that is different than the (automatically selected) Lower Range setting on the 1197 unit. After that you would have to shut the 1197 off if the interference lines bother you that much. Of course they are not as bad on the Clear Mode setting and I think that is what you said that you normally run.

    Nah they don't brother me I stay in Clear Mode. I have been able to find my spots that I have put out (and others :p) and can see fish ok. I posted these for Tommy with my setting, just trying to help him if I could. All this started about trying to get fish arc on the 777c2 :D
