    Default Hummingbird New Products

One of my bassin' buddies said HB had some new products at a trade show. One of the improvements he mentioned was the units would be networked via Ethernet. I can't find any info on their upcoming products.

I'm looking to upgrade but am willing to wait until the new releases come out. Gives me a little more time to compare HB & Lowrance. He also mentioned the bigger HB units would have HD screens.

Anyone here have any links to the newer models? I can't find them and would like to do a little reading up on what all they will be offering.

I’ve seen where some have posted information but I’m not sure about where it came from and even question some of what was posted. I have not been given any information myself and nothing is on the Humminbird or Johnson Outdoors, Inc. web site yet. Should not be much longer though as the they are showing them at the trade shows.

Thanks for the link. I don't have a FB account but may have to start looking at their page.

A little disappointed the 800 & 900 series aren't being offered in HD.

Interesting article by RGecy at sideimagingsoft.com about "What is HD?"...

    What is HD?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the pixel count of any of the units is changing.....therefore the past HB units were already HD....

It is a loose talking points term. I wouldn't put a lot of faith in any of it. Kinda like the 8 times rms measurement of peak to peak power. Manufacturers make claims of relationships of 8x rms to peak to peak, however, this relationship is a coincidence of math only. I doubt anyone can measure these levels with any instrument at these advertised power levels. Very misleading information. Also the term "broadband" is loosely tossed about. These terms really sound highly technical from a pitchman who use these technical terms loosely.

That was my point exactly CP...touting HD as a "new" feature of the 2011 product line is just to sell units....not actually a better or different feature from the previous units...

Just because it now says HD does not mean the image quality will be any better .....

Better image quality is gained thru more pixel count ...and I don't think that "more pixel count" is actually happening in the 2011 models....
